pumping gas, but the business ethic
of doing the best job possible was seeded and took root.
In the 40’s I.V. moved the company to Snyder, Texas, located
in the heart of the Permian
Basin Oil and Gas production fields, to apply the team’s
skills of servicing automobiles and
their engines, to servicing drilling engines.
It was a big deal for the country back then, we were on the
preciface of a second world
war and the country needed oil to drive the machines of freedom.
The demand for their
skills was great.
From there its simply a story of one thing leading to another.
In the forties and fifties their
talents for engine work spread across the West Texas production
fields and soon,
petroleum engineers began stopping by to speak with I.V. about
special projects,
modifications, and the tools they needed as they brought their
drilling fields into production.
Soon I.V. added a machine shop, expanded the team, and formally
founded Y-Z Carburetor
Service in 1949. Initially a partnership between John Young
and I.V. Zeck, hence the
name YZ, John Young soon found the challenges of entrepreneurship
a little too much to
handle and turned his portion of the business over to I.V.
For the next 30 years the business stayed the course, expanded
their product offering,
and added a son to the business, Ted Zeck . During that time
YZ began building crude oil
and light petroleum fluid sampling systems, by furnishing complete
skids.

In the 70’s the company applied
its skill set by developing natural gas sampling systems,
and then in the 80’s the first online, pipeline mounted,
natural gas sampling system, DynaPak
was developed.
With the 80’s a couple of grandsons joined the business,
Paul and Mark, which brought
about a large expansion in the company. By then YZ was designing
equipment and milling
their own steel for the various components required for their
sampling systems. This
application specific philosophy soon found a new product line
to support, NJEX Odorant
Injection Systems.
At that time odorization systems were basically regional product
lines, tinkered together, in
someone’s workshop. Realizing that odorization needed a
systems approach, Paul and Mark
applied their engineering expertise to develop the first complete
self-contained system
comprised of a pump, measurement device, and system controller.
This marked the birth of
the NJEX Odorization Systems.
A little over ten years have gone by and YZ still leads technology
development in
odorization. Using those skills sets the company is expanding
its product offering once
again by developing “Concept to Reality” chemical
injection systems, CHEMJEX. These
broad based systems are targeted to the needs of our customer’s
application by
combining the injection pump, controllers, measurement device,
and a wide range of
options, onto a complete skid manufactured in our ISO 9001 certified
facility with the
same attention to craftsmanship that made YZ a world class company.
Today YZ is a United Technologies Company (NYSE: UTC) organized
under the Hamilton
Sundstrand - Industrial Division and financially reporting as
a company of Milton Roy. The
Milton Roy Company is the global leader in the manufacture of
chemical metering pumps
with manufacturing facilities and representation through out the
world.
And that is just the beginning… |
